Installing screen sharing tools

Last Updated: May 12, 2016 04:05PM PDT

What programs do you need to participate in a moderated test?
To participate in a moderated test we will need you to download and install one of two programs both of which are free: Join.me or GoToMeeting. In both cases it’s important to have the appropriate version downloaded and installed on your computer. Not having these programs set up before your moderated test will result in cancellation of payment and ineligibility for future special studies.

Moderated tests are an interesting and exciting way of testing so if need help, email us at moderated@usertesting.com and we’d gladly set you up!

Why download and install?
The reason we require these programs to be installed is because only the installed versions allow you to do the following:

  • Screen Share: In most cases, the researcher or moderator will ask you to share your screen so that they may observe your computer screen while you complete the instructed tasks and scenarios on your computer.
  • Mouse and Keyboard Control : Often times the researcher may ask you to take control of their computer mouse and keyboard while you interact with new unreleased apps or website features that are in the works.

Simply having a web version or extension will not allow you to complete the tasks in a moderated test and may cause the test to be cancelled.
