In order for our Android mobile recorder app to work on your device, it requests various permissions. We understand that these permissions may seem confusing so we’d like to let you know why we request each one.
- read phone status and identity

We need these permissions to turn off the audio recording if a participant is making or receiving a phone call during a test. This protects your private conversations from being recorded.
This allows the app to record your feedback through your microphone.
approximate location (network-based)
This allows the app to get your approximate location. We pull location data for analytics and to verify location if a client test requires it.

The video and audio recordings need to be stored on your device before we upload them to our server. Once these are uploaded, we remove these recordings from the device.

This permission is used to log in / sign up participants using accounts found on the device.
Device Access Permissions
- full network access
This allows the app to communicate with our servers to upload your completed recordings.
- view network connections
This allows the app to view information about network connections such as which networks exist and are connected.
view Wi-Fi connections
retrieve running apps
This allows the app to retrieve information about currently and recently running tasks.
draw over other apps
This allows our recorder to track your gestures and draw them on the screen so the client can see how you navigate their website or app.
prevent phone from sleeping
This allows the app to prevent the phone from going to sleep.
